ADEGA MAYOR is located Alentejo, Campo Maior (Portugal), near the borders of Portugal and Spain. It is in this region, benefiting from the Mediterranean ecosystem and a long tradition of vineyards and olive trees, that Comendador Rui Nabeiro's dream was born.
Its proximity to the Serra de São Mamede gives its wines a unique character thanks to their granite soils and mild climate. In 1997 the first vines were planted and 10 years later the first winery in Portugal was opened. Designed by architect Siza Vieira in a contemporary style by Rita Nabeiro, ADEGA MAYOR reinvents the tradition of Alentejo wine and olive oil.
